Another Jacobean dramatist—John Fletcher, who succeeded Shakespeare as
the resident dramatist for the King's Men:
JOHN FLETCHER (1579-1625)
(English dramatist, b. Rye, Sussex; father Richard Fletcher was vicar and
Bishop; cousin of Giles Fletcher Jr. and Phineas Fletcher; st. Benet College,
Cambridge, lived in London, probably unmarried; dramatist for the King's Men and collaborator with Shakespeare and with Francis Beaumont; died of the plague 1625).
